Story and Reason Behind Ganesh Visarjan, Reason behind Ganesh visarjan: Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is one of the most famous festivals of Hindus that marks the birth of Lord Ganesha. According to the Gregorian calendar, this festival falls in the month of August or September. Story and Reason Behind Ganesh Visarjan - First Story

• According to religious scriptures, Shri Ved Vyas narrated the Mahabharata story to Shri Ganesh for 10 consecutive days from Ganesh Chaturthi, which Shri Ganesh ji wrote word for word. 
• 10 days later, when Ved Vyas ji opened his eyes, he found that after 10 days of tireless hard work, Ganesh ji's temperature had increased a lot. 
• Immediately Ved Vyas ji took Ganesh ji to a nearby lake and cooled him down. Therefore, Ganesh is installed and cooled on Chaturdashi.
• It is also mentioned in this story that to prevent Shri Ganapati ji's body temperature from rising, Ved Vyas ji applied a paste of fragrant mud on his body. 
• When this paste dried, Ganesh ji's body became stiff. The mud also started falling off. 
• Then he was taken to a cool lake and immersed in water. Meanwhile, Ved Vyas ji offered his favorite food to Shri Ganesh for 10 days, since then, the installation and immersion of Shri Ganesh idol is done symbolically and there is also a practice of offering delicious food to him for 10 days.

There is another interesting story behind the legend of Ganesh Visarjan.

• It is believed that Lord Ganesha returns to Mount Kailash to meet his parents Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on the last day of the festival.
• The celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi also signifies the significance of the cycle of birth, life and death.
• Ganesha, also known as the first worshipped deity, is also worshipped as the remover of obstacles. 
• It is believed that when the idol of Ganesha is taken out for immersion, it also takes with it various obstacles of the house and these obstacles are destroyed with the immersion.

• धर्म ग्रंथों के अनुसार श्री वेद व्यास जी ने गणेश चतुर्थी से लगातार 10 दिनों तक श्री गणेश को महाभारत की कथा सुनाई थी, जिसे श्री गणेश जी ने शब्दशः लिखा था। 
• 10 दिन बाद जब वेद ​​व्यास जी ने अपनी आंखें खोलीं तो उन्होंने पाया कि 10 दिनों के अथक परिश्रम के बाद गणेश जी का तापमान बहुत बढ़ गया था। 
• तुरंत वेद व्यास जी गणेश जी को पास के एक सरोवर में ले गए और उन्हें ठंडा किया। 
• इसलिए चतुर्दशी के दिन गणेश जी की स्थापना कर उन्हें ठंडा किया जाता है। 
• इस कथा में यह भी उल्लेख है कि श्री गणपति जी के शरीर का तापमान बढ़ने से रोकने के लिए वेद व्यास जी ने उनके शरीर पर सुगंधित मिट्टी का लेप लगाया था। 
• जब यह लेप सूख गया तो गणेश जी का शरीर अकड़ गया। मिट्टी भी गिरने लगी। 
• वेदव्यास जी ने फिर उन्हें एक ठंडे सरोवर में ले जाकर पानी में उतारा। 
• इस बीच वेदव्यास जी ने 10 दिनों तक श्री गणेश को उनका पसंदीदा भोजन अर्पित किया। 
• तब से श्री गणेश प्रतिमा की स्थापना और विसर्जन प्रतीकात्मक रूप से किया जाता है तथा 10 दिनों तक उन्हें स्वादिष्ट भोजन का भोग लगाने की भी प्रथा है।

गणेश विसर्जन की कथा के पीछे एक और दिलचस्प कहानी है। 

• ऐसा माना जाता है कि भगवान गणेश त्योहार के आखिरी दिन अपने माता-पिता भगवान शिव और देवी पार्वती से मिलने के लिए कैलाश पर्वत पर लौटते हैं। 
• गणेश चतुर्थी का उत्सव जन्म, जीवन और मृत्यु के चक्र के महत्व को भी दर्शाता है। 
• गणेश जी को प्रथम पूज्य देवता के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, उन्हें बाधाओं को दूर करने वाले के रूप में भी पूजा जाता है।
